The Gallivan CF Charity Golf Tournament
The BellAliant Danny Gallivan Golf Tournament was created by legendary hockey broadcaster Danny Gallivan, Red Storey and a group of Halifax businessmen to raise research funds for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Leaders in the business community continue to organize the event, which represents one of the longest-standing, and most successful fundraising events of its nature in Atlantic Canada. In 2011, the event raised a record breaking $67,000, bringing the current total raised for CF to almost 1,200,000. This year’s event will take place July 4th and 5th at the Old Ashburn Golf Course in Halifax.Beyond the much needed funds raised in support of the fight against Cystic Fibrosis, the event provides an excellent networking opportunity for senior members of the local business community within the context of a fun and entertaining day on the links. The Gallivan draws significant representation from the senior business and medical community of Nova Scotia.
The Gallivan has been designed to accommodate a large field of players, with nearly 200 participants in this annually sold out event. The event includes a full array of activities including: an Opening Reception, Welcome Breakfast, and the Day of Golf… followed by an Awards Banquet/Dinner. Last year's field featured a well known group of celebrities including, Bob Cole, Liisa Savijari, Murray Wilson, Jeff Hutcheson, Elliotte Friedman, John Shannon, Andrew Gordon, James Sheppard, Cam Russell, Rick Bowness, Mike McPhee and Terry Baker. We are working hard to secure this year's line up.
Following the tournament all participants will help us to raise further funds for CF through the BMO Harris Private Banking Silent Auction. Many of these items are donated by our celebrities and the local business community and all funds raised through the tournament and the auction go directly to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation .
